Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2XL-3XL streamer hook, 6-12
  • Thread Gray 70 denier

Materials

  • Cone Gold conehead (1, sized to hook)
  • Tail White marabou (one plume)
  • Body/collar White saddle hackle (1 feather)
  • Hackle Natural partridge (1-2 feathers)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold cone to the eye and mount the hook. Add a few turns of lead wire behind the cone for weight if desired, then start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a white marabou tail one shank length long for a soft, breathing tail.
  3. Tie in a white saddle hackle by the tip and palmer it forward two-thirds of the shank, then tie off.
  4. Tie in a partridge feather and wrap it forward in touching turns as a mottled, webby collar.
  5. Sweep the partridge fibers back and lock them down just behind the cone.
  6. Build a small collar behind the cone, whip finish, and add head cement.
