Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 6-10
  • Thread Black 140 denier

Materials

  • Cone Gold or black conehead (1)
  • Tail Black marabou with pearl flash (one plume)
  • Body Black or purple crystal chenille (one strand)
  • Hackle Black saddle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the cone to the eye and mount the hook. Start thread and run it to the bend.
  2. Tie in a black marabou tail one and a half shank lengths long, with several strands of pearl flash to each side.
  3. Bind in the black hackle by the tip and the crystal chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the crystal chenille forward to just behind the cone and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off behind the cone.
  6. Build a collar behind the cone, whip finish, and cement.
