Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 4-10
  • Thread Black 140 denier

Materials

  • Cone Gold conehead (1)
  • Tail Yellow marabou with pearl flash (one plume)
  • Body Yellow chenille (one strand)
  • Hackle Brown and grizzly saddle, palmered together (2 feathers)
  • Legs White/barred rubber legs (3 pairs)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold cone to the eye and mount the hook. Start thread and run it to the bend.
  2. Tie in a yellow marabou tail one shank length long with a few strands of pearl flash to each side.
  3. Bind in the brown and grizzly hackles by their tips, then tie in the yellow chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward to just behind the cone and tie off.
  5. Palmer both hackle feathers forward together in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off behind the cone.
  6. Add three pairs of rubber legs splayed along the sides for a leggy profile.
  7. Build a collar behind the cone, whip finish, and cement.
