Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Intermediate · 2 versions

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 6-10
  • Thread Black 140 denier

Materials

  • Bead Gold or black tungsten (optional) bead (1)
  • Tail Olive marabou (one plume)
  • Flash Olive Krystal Flash (6 strands)
  • Body Olive dubbing + black hackle, twisted brush (as needed)
  • Hackle Grizzly saddle (in the twist) (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a bead to the eye if using one and mount the hook. Start thread and run it to the bend.
  2. Tie in an olive marabou tail one shank length long, with a few strands of flash to each side.
  3. Create a dubbing loop at the tail, insert dubbing plus a grizzly hackle laid flat, and spin the loop into a shaggy complex-twist brush.
  4. Palmer the twisted brush forward in touching turns, stroking fibers back with each wrap so hackle and dubbing intermingle.
  5. Tie off the brush behind the bead and pick out the body to a buggy, breathing profile.
  6. Build a thread collar, whip finish, and add a drop of head cement.
