Bead Black brass or tungsten bead (One, sized to the hook)
Dubbing Olive (tan for summer/light caddis) (Enough for a slim abdomen)
Antron White poly yarn (A sparse pinch for the veil)
Hen hackle Olive brahma hen fibers (One small feather for the legs)
Dubbing Light brown dubbing (A pinch for the first collar)
Dubbing Black dubbing (A pinch for the second collar)
Organza fibers or wood duck Natural mallard flank (Two strands for the antennae)
How to tie it
Slide the black bead on, mount the hook and start the black thread behind the bead, wrapping back to the start of the bend.
Dub a slim, slightly tapered olive abdomen from the bend forward to about the 60% point.
Tie a sparse pinch of white Antron in at the front of the abdomen and distribute it around the body, then trim the veil so it reaches about halfway back down the abdomen.
Tie in the olive hen hackle and take one or two turns as legs, stroking the fibers back so they sweep along the body; tie off and trim.
Tie two strands of organza (or wood duck fibers) in on top so they lie back over the body as antennae, roughly a shank-length long.
Dub a short collar of light brown dubbing in front of the legs.
Dub a second, shorter collar of black dubbing right behind the bead.
Whip finish behind the bead and pick out the collars so they look bushy.
