Classic Recipe
Hook Salmon single or tube, 2-8 or tube
Thread Black 6/0
Materials
Body Flat silver tinsel (slim)
Wing Black goat or collie hair (2-3x shank length, low)
How to tie it
Mount the tube or salmon hook and start black thread at the front.
Catch in flat silver tinsel at the rear and wrap a slim, smooth body forward in touching turns, then back and forward again if needed for an even sheen, and tie off at the front.
Cut a slim bunch of black goat or collie hair two to three shank lengths long. Long and mobile is the whole point.
Bind the hair in on top so it lies low and streams straight back over the body, tips well past the bend.
For a tube, add a second sparse pinch underneath if you want it to sit level; keep the total wing sparse and flowing.
Build a small tapered head, whip finish and varnish.
