Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Plastic/alloy tube with trailing hook, Tube, 1-2 inch
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Body Black ostrich herl (floss or thread)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (oval tinsel)
  • Wing Black ostrich herl (long black goat hair or bucktail)
  • Cheeks Red buzzer wrap (few strands (optional))

How to tie it

  1. Mount the tube on a needle and start thread at the rear.
  2. Tie in the silver rib, build a slim black body, then rib it forward and tie off.
  3. Tie in a very long black goat hair or bucktail wing that extends well past the tube.
  4. Optionally add a few red strands at the throat.
  5. Form a small head, whip finish, cement, and slide off the needle.
