Classic Recipe
- Hook streamer/nymph hook (Daiichi 2220), 4-8
- Thread brown 6/0
Materials
- Cone Black conehead (CH), medium or large (1)
- Weight Lead wire .020-.030 (8-12 wraps)
- Tail Olive, white, or tan blood-quill marabou (one shank length)
- Flash Copper or root beer Krystal Flash (6-8 strands)
- Body Gold ice dub (1 dubbing loop)
- Belly Pearl ice dub (small pinch)
How to tie it
- Slide the conehead to the eye, wrap 8-12 turns of lead wire behind it, and jam the wraps into the cone to seat it and add weight.
- Start thread and tie in a marabou tail one shank length long in your chosen sculpin color.
- Tie in 6-8 strands of copper or root beer Krystal Flash over the tail.
- Spin gold Ice Dub into a dubbing loop and wrap a full, buggy body forward to the cone.
- Fold a pinch of pearl Ice Dub under the shank for a bright belly.
- Whip finish behind the cone and brush the body out so it breathes.
