Coffey's CH Sparkle Minnow JJ
Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Intermediate · 1 version
Classic Recipe
- Hook streamer/nymph hook (Daiichi 2220), 4-8
- Thread black or brown 6/0
Materials
- Cone Black conehead (CH), medium or large (1)
- Weight Lead wire .020-.030 (8-12 wraps)
- Tail Black over yellow blood-quill marabou (JJ colors) (one shank length)
- Flash Copper or gold Krystal Flash (6-8 strands)
- Body Gold ice dub (1 dubbing loop)
- Belly Pearl ice dub (small pinch)
How to tie it
- Slide the cone to the eye, wrap 8-12 turns of lead behind it, and seat them in the cone for weight.
- Tie in a marabou tail one shank length long, layering yellow under black so it echoes the classic JJ (galloup) color scheme.
- Add 6-8 strands of copper or gold Krystal Flash over the tail.
- Dub a full gold Ice Dub body forward to the cone in a dubbing loop.
- Fold pearl Ice Dub under the shank for a bright belly, then whip finish behind the cone.
- Brush the body out so the black-over-yellow profile pulses and flashes.
