  • Hook Jig nymph hook, 2X wide gape, 16-20
  • Thread Brown 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Copper slotted tungsten (1, sized to hook)
  • Tail Brown Coq de Leon fibers (6-8 fibers)
  • Body Dark PMD/brown dubbing (sparse)
  • Rib Copper wire, small (one strand)
  • Wing case Yellow 2mm foam (one narrow strip)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the copper slotted bead to the eye, small hole forward, and mount the jig hook. Start thread behind the bead.
  2. Tie in a short tail of Coq de Leon, half a shank length past the bend, then bind the copper wire down the shank as you return the thread.
  3. Cut a narrow strip of yellow foam and bind it in by the tip at the 70% mark, tag pointing back over the bend.
  4. Dub a slim, tapered body forward with half the dubbing you think, stopping just behind the bead.
  5. Counter-wrap the copper rib 5-6 evenly spaced turns for segmentation and durability, then tie off and snip.
  6. Pull the yellow foam forward tight over the front third as a bright wing case, bind behind the bead, and snip the excess close.
  7. Build a small thread collar and whip finish.
