How to tie it
Mount the up-eye hook and start thread; tie in a clump of black hackle barbs at the bend for the tail, about half a shank long.
Tie in the oval silver rib, then build the body in thirds: fluorescent-orange yarn over the rear quarter, fluorescent-red yarn over the next quarter, and black chenille over the front half.
Counter-wrap the silver rib forward in five even turns over the whole body and tie off.
Tie in a black hackle and take two or three turns as a collar, then sweep the fibers back.
Tie in a few strands of black Krystal Flash, then a clump of black squirrel tail over the top as a wing, reaching to the end of the tail.
Build a neat head, whip finish, and snip; a drop of cement finishes it.
