Reference Recipe
- Hook 2XL-3XL streamer hook, 4-8
- Thread Olive 140 denier
Materials
- Eyes Bead chain or small lead (dumbbell (rides hook-up))
- Antennae Olive-brown material (2 rubber strands)
- Claws Olive ostrich herl (craft fur split into two)
- Body Olive-brown material (brushed dubbing)
- Rib Copper thorax stripe (wire, 4-5 turns)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread; lash bead-chain or small dumbbell eyes a third of a shank back so the point rides up.
- Tie in two rubber antennae at the bend, pointing forward past the eye.
- Split a small clump of olive craft fur into two claws and tie them splayed at the bend.
- Tie in the copper rib, then dub a compact, brushed olive-brown body forward to the eyes.
- Counter-wrap the rib forward in 4-5 turns to segment the body and tie off.
- Whip finish behind the eye and snip; brush the body buggy. Hop this smaller crayfish along the bottom for trout, smallmouth, and panfish.
