Start the Olive thread in the front third of the shank and leave it hanging at mid-shank.
Tie in the Gold Mylar tinsel, wrap it back to the bend and forward to the thread at mid-shank, then bind it off with two or three tight wraps. The body is short because the wing takes two components up front.
Tie in a tuft of Poly yarn (ie, Z-lon or Antron) at the front of the body as the underwing, snip the front, and trim the rear so it extends just past the bend.
Stack a small-to-medium tuft of Natural Deer Hair, measure it a little longer than the underwing, take one loose wrap so it spreads around the hook, then tight wraps so it flares slightly.
Trim the butts and bury them with wraps, staying well back from the eye to leave room for the hackle. Snip any stray hairs off the sides and underside now, before the collar is on.
Tie in the Grizzly dyed olive hackle and take four or five turns; more turns float it better but read less like a caddis. Lay back any deer hairs pointing forward, tie off and snip the excess.
Sweep any wayward fibers back, build the head with enough room for the whip finish, whip finish, and add a drop of head cement.
