How to tie it
Mount the hook and start orange thread; bind a length of burnt-orange macrame yarn along the shank so a stub extends one shank length past the bend as the body/tail.
Singe the trailing tip of the yarn with a lighter and pinch it to a taper. The melted end won't wick water and keeps the fly floating.
Return the thread to the 70% mark, building a smooth underbody over the bound-down yarn.
Clean but do not stack a bundle of deer or elk hair; tie it in as a wing with the tips extending just past the end of the yarn body.
Tie in a brown hackle and take three or four turns in front of the wing as a collar; tie off.
