Materials
- Tail Claret hackle fibers (small bunch)
- Rib Fine gold wire (fine)
- Body Claret seal's fur or wool (dubbed)
- Hackle Claret hen hackle (1)
- Wing Dark slate duck quill or bronze mallard (1 pair)
How to tie it
- Tie in the claret tail at the bend, half a shank length.
- Tie in the gold wire, then dub a slim claret body to the 70% mark.
- Counter-rib with 4-5 turns of wire to lock the dubbing.
- Wind 2-3 turns of claret hen hackle and sweep it back as a throat.
- Set the dark wing slips low over the body and whip finish.
