CK Kraft's Kreelex

Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Largemouth Bass · Pike · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard streamer hook (2XL), 1-6
  • Thread Red 140 denier

Materials

  • Eyes Silver/plated material (small lead dumbbell or bead chain)
  • Wing (under) Silver metal tape (clump of Kreelex flash / Flashabou)
  • Wing (over) Gold middle (clump of Kreelex flash / Flashabou)
  • Head Red buzzer wrap (thread)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start the thread; lash a small dumbbell or bead-chain eye at the 80% mark with tight figure-8 wraps and a drop of cement.
  2. Tie in a clump of silver Kreelex flash just behind the eyes so it reaches two shank lengths past the bend.
  3. Fold the forward half of that clump back over itself and bind it down, doubling the flash for fullness.
  4. Tie a clump of gold Kreelex on top, the same length, and fold it back the same way so the fly shows gold over silver.
  5. Wrap a neat thread head in front of the eyes, whip finish, and snip.
  6. Coat the head with a drop of head cement.
