How to tie it
Start thread behind the eye, wrap to the bend, and tie in six to eight ginger fibers as a tail, one shank length long.
Tie in a stripped peacock quill by its tip at the bend, choose one with a warm cinnamon edge.
Wrap the quill forward in touching, non-overlapping turns to the 70% mark so the light and dark edges create the segmented body that makes the quill family so lifelike. Varnish the quill body lightly, as bare quill is fragile.
Tie in two pale wing slips or hackle points upright and divided at the 70% mark.
Wind 3-4 turns of ginger hackle behind the wing and 2 in front, and tie off.
