Classic Recipe

  • Hook 2XL dry-fly/terrestrial hook (TMC 5212), 8-14
  • Thread Black 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Tail Pearl Krystal Flash (few strands)
  • Underbody Peacock Ice Dub with a raspberry/red band (as needed)
  • Body Black 2mm foam (1 strip)
  • Wing White para-post yarn (1 clump)
  • Legs Barred Sili legs (2 pairs)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in a pearl Krystal Flash tail at the bend.
  2. Tie down a strip of black 2mm foam at the bend, leaving a stub tail.
  3. Dub a peacock Ice Dub underbody but add a bright raspberry/red band in the middle, the 'Royal' color scheme (peacock-red-peacock).
  4. Segment the foam into 2-3 body segments with thread wraps over the dubbed underbody.
  5. Tie in a white para-post wing and barred legs at each segment.
  6. Finish behind the eye, whip finish and cement.
  7. Trim wing and legs to length.
