Classic Recipe

  • Hook Curved pupa, 12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead White bead (1)
  • Body Silver Flashabou or Mylar (smooth)
  • Rib Black V-Rib or wire (segmenting)
  • Coat UV resin (glossy)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the white bead to the eye, mount the curved pupa hook, and start black thread.
  2. Wrap silver Flashabou or Mylar smoothly the full length of the shank to build a chrome body.
  3. Rib forward with black V-Rib or wire in 5-7 evenly spaced turns for segmentation and tie off behind the bead.
  4. Coat the body with UV resin and cure it for a glossy mirror finish. The shine imitates a gas-filled rising pupa.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
