Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved emerger/pupa hook (e.g. TMC 2487), 16-20
- Thread Brown 8/0
Materials
- Shuck Brown permanent marker (A few fibers of Zelon (optional))
- Body Chocolate brown (Tying thread or fine dubbing)
- Rib Gold middle (Extra-fine wire)
- Wing White uni stretch (Thin strip of closed-cell foam)
- Thorax Brown permanent marker (Fine dubbing or peacock)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start the thread, winding to the bend.
- Tie in a sparse brown Zelon shuck a half shank long if using.
- Bind in the fine gold wire, then build a slim chocolate-brown body forward to the 70% mark.
- Rib the wire forward in 5-6 open turns and tie off for segmentation.
- Tie in a thin white foam strip pointing forward over the eye as a short wing/post, so it sits in the film and adds visibility.
- Dub a small thorax behind and in front of the wing, whip finish and cement.
