Reference Recipe

  • Hook Curved scud/pupa hook (e.g. TMC 2457), 10-16
  • Thread Red 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead White bead (One Sno Cone bead)
  • Body Red buzzer wrap (Small or medium D-Rib)
  • Collar Peacock ice dub (One or two peacock herls)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the white Sno Cone bead to the eye, mount the hook and start the thread.
  2. At the bend tie in a length of red D-Rib by its thin end, flat side down.
  3. Wind the thread forward to just behind the bead, laying a smooth underbody.
  4. Wrap the D-Rib forward in touching turns for a glassy segmented body and tie off behind the bead.
  5. Tie in the peacock herl and take 2-3 turns as a collar tight behind the bead, then bind off.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
