Worm · Tarpon · Snook · Redfish · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3-4XL streamer hook, 2-1/0
  • Thread Fire orange 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Bead Copper bead (Tungsten bead to fit hook (gold or copper))
  • Weight Lead (Several turns of lead wire)
  • Tail Burnt orange (One marabou plume, long and mobile)
  • Tail flash Copper flashabou (A few strands Flashabou)
  • Hackle Furnace/chili pepper (One saddle hackle, palmered)
  • Body Copper thorax stripe (Tinsel chenille)
  • Collar Fire orange (Thread)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead on, mount the hook and start the thread; add a few turns of lead behind the bead and shove them into the bead to lock it.
  2. At the bend, tie in a long, wispy burnt-orange marabou tail and a few strands of copper flash to give the worm its swimming wiggle.
  3. Tie in the saddle hackle by the tip and the tinsel chenille.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward to behind the bead and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 open turns for legs and tie off.
  6. Build a fire-orange thread collar behind the bead, whip finish and cement.
