Reference Recipe
- Hook 2X-strong nymph/wet hook (e.g. Daiichi 1560), 6-10
- Thread White 6/0
Materials
- Tail Sand grizzly hackle (One clump of grizzly chickabou)
- Body Bonefish tan (Micro/midge cactus chenille)
- Collar Wood duck gold (One mallard flank feather)
- Head Orange permanent marker (1 shank-length piece of McFly Foam)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start the thread, winding back to the barb.
- Tie in the grizzly chickabou tail about one shank long and wispy.
- Bind in the micro cactus chenille and wrap it forward to the 75% mark for the body.
- Tie in a mallard flank by the tip and take 2-3 turns as a soft collar, then bind off and snip the excess.
- Fold a shank-length piece of McFly Foam over the shank and lash it down in the middle with 8-10 tight wraps to spread it into an egg-shaped head.
- Whip finish under the head and primp the foam back into a round egg shape.
