Materials
Dry fly dubbing (synthetic) Black dubbing (A very small pinch)
Marabou-like fluff from the base of a hen or chicken feather White marabou (One small tuft (a single feather makes half a dozen flies))
Dry fly hackle Black (grizzly works too) (One small feather)
Head cement Clear head cement (A drop)
How to tie it
Start the black thread in the middle of the shank and wrap back to the start of the bend. There is no tail.
Spin a very thin noodle of black synthetic dubbing, about an inch of thread covered, and wrap a slim body forward to a little past the halfway point.
Take a small tuft of the white fluff from the base of a chicken or hen feather and tie it in as a wing, extending a little past the bend, with a pinch wrap and three securing wraps.
Trim the excess fluff off the front and spend a few thread wraps smoothing that area out so the hackle will wrap cleanly.
Tie in the smallest black dry fly hackle you have and snip the excess in front.
Take three or four turns of hackle, using hackle pliers and no tension on the stem, the feather breaks easily on a fly this small, then tie it off with a couple of extra securing wraps.
Whip finish in the small space behind the eye and add a drop of head cement.
