Reference Recipe
- Hook standard bonefish/flats hook, 4-8
- Thread Tan 140 denier
Materials
- Bead Tungsten jig bomb (one, mid shank)
- Tail Tan carapace (arctic fox with pearl flash)
- Eyes Black ostrich herl (burnt mono, one per side)
- Body Tan carapace (flat diamond braid)
- Hackle Tan/grizzly hackle (one saddle, palmered)
- Wing Tan carapace (arctic fox, sparse)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook point-up and seat a tungsten jig bomb at mid shank so the fly rides hook-up and lands quietly.
- Start thread and tie in a sparse arctic fox tail with a couple of pearl flash strands at the bend.
- Add a burnt-mono eye to each side just ahead of the tail.
- Tie in a tan hackle and flat braid, wrap the braid forward over the bead, then palmer the hackle through it as legs.
- Lay a very sparse arctic fox wing over the back and bind it behind the eye.
- Whip finish and coat the head with UV resin, keeping the whole fly lean for a soft entry.
