Reference Recipe
- Hook Umpqua XS410 flats hook, 4
- Thread Pink 140 denier
Materials
- Bead Tungsten jig bomb (2.8-3.3mm) (one, mid shank on flattened mono)
- Tail Tan carapace (arctic fox)
- Antennae Brown/clear barred material (micro crusher legs)
- Flash Root beer flash (Krystal Flash with UV predator wrap)
- Mouth Pearl orange mouth (Mylar tubing, shredded)
- Eyes Ruby (glass beads on burnt mono, one per side)
- Body Orange permanent marker (flat diamond braid)
- Hackle Tan hackle (one saddle, palmered)
- Wing Tan carapace (arctic fox with root beer Krystal Flash)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook point-up and lock the tungsten jig bomb at mid shank on flattened mono so the fly inverts and lands soft.
- Start pink thread and tie in a sparse arctic fox tail at the bend, then add barred crusher-leg antennae and root beer flash behind it.
- Tie in a short piece of pearl orange Mylar tubing and shred the end to form the mouth.
- Set a ruby glass-bead eye on burnt mono to each side.
- Tie in a tan saddle hackle and orange diamond braid, wrap the braid forward over the bead, then palmer the hackle through it as legs.
- Lay a sparse arctic fox wing with a few flash strands over the back and bind behind the eye.
- Whip finish and seal the head with UV resin.
