Chewy's Fit For a King

Attractor · Striped Bass · Bluefish · Jack · Tarpon · Snook · Redfish · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook heavy saltwater/tarpon hook, 1/0-3/0
  • Thread Red 210 denier

Materials

  • Tail Tan/grizzly hackle (four arctic fox-and-hackle plumes, splayed)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (a few strands)
  • Collar Tan carapace (arctic fox, palmered)
  • Head Red buzzer wrap (thread)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start red thread, building a base back to the rear third of the shank.
  2. Pair four fox-and-grizzly plumes back to back so they splay wide and bind them in as the tail at the rear third.
  3. Add a few strands of pearl flash to each side.
  4. Tie in a bundle of arctic fox and palmer or fold it as a full collar so the fibers pulse and sweep back over the tail.
  5. Build a bold red thread head, taking wraps to flare the collar back.
  6. Whip finish and coat the head with UV resin.
