Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard bonefish/flats hook, 4-8
  • Thread Pink 140 denier

Materials

  • Bead Tungsten jig bomb (one, center mounted)
  • Tail Tan carapace (craft fur with a few pearl flash strands)
  • Body Pearl anti static bag strip (diamond braid)
  • Wing Tan carapace (craft fur, sparse)
  • Head Pink ears (thread)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook point-up and set a single center-mounted tungsten jig bomb so the fly rides hook-up like a Gotcha.
  2. Start pink thread and tie in a sparse tan craft fur tail with a couple of pearl flash strands at the bend.
  3. Tie in pearl diamond braid and wrap a smooth body forward over the bead to just behind the eye.
  4. Stack a sparse tan craft fur wing on top so it sweeps back over the point, shielding it.
  5. Build a neat pink thread head and whip finish.
  6. Coat the head with UV resin to finish.
