Tyer Recipe
Hook Tiemco 2487 (2X wide, 2X short curved emerger hook), #18-22 (a #22 is the sweet spot; the pattern goes to #24)
Thread Olive dun Uni 8/0
Materials
Bead Nickel black brass or tungsten bead (One, sized to the hook)
Krystal Flash, small Olive crinkle flash fine (Two strands (also used for the tail))
Antron or poly yarn White poly yarn (A small tuft for the wing)
Semi Seal or Hareline dubbing Olive to dark olive semi seal or hareline dubbing (A small pinch for the thorax)
How to tie it
Slide the black bead onto the hook, mount the hook and start the olive dun thread behind the bead, wrapping back to the start of the bend.
Tie in a few fibers of small olive Krystal Flash at the bend as a short tail, about half a shank long.
Tie in two strands of the same olive Krystal Flash at the bend and leave them hanging.
Build a smooth, slim, slightly tapered abdomen with the tying thread alone, from the bend forward to about the 70% point.
Wind the two strands of Krystal Flash forward over the thread abdomen in evenly spaced turns as a rib, tie them off at the 70% point and trim.
Tie a small tuft of white Antron or poly yarn on top just in front of the abdomen as an emerging wing, angled up and back, and trim it to about the length of the thorax.
Dub a small olive thorax over the wing butts, filling the space up to the back of the bead.
Whip finish behind the bead and trim the wing to final length.
