Start the black thread a little back from the eye and catch in the gold Mylar tinsel (size 14 on this size 10) with the gold side toward the hook, binding it back along the shank.
Body: split one strand out of the Yellow Wool yarn and catch it in at the front. Wrap it back and then forward in tight, close turns; catching it in at the front avoids a lump at the rear and builds a slight underbody. It will be a little fuzzy, which is the point of wool.
Wrap the tinsel: a few close turns at the very back for a tag, then evenly spaced turns forward as a rib, and tie off.
Wing: a fairly small tuft of Black bucktail, stacked, caught in on top reaching to the bend or just past it. Cord the thread with a spin and take several wraps, starting well back because the head will be big.
Lift the bucktail and pass a wrap up under it, back over the top and under it again without going around the hook, so the thread circles only the hair; a few medium wraps tame the flare, then tighter wraps forward. Trim the butts as close as you can.
Start the head, then Cheeks: the smallest Jungle cock nails on the cape, one each side, kept short so only the enamel shows. Thread wraps forward, then snip the stems.
Build a large, clean thread head (it has to be big enough to paint), whip finish, and coat with UV resin using the applicator to spread it; cure and let it dry fully.
Eyes: once dry, dot yellow model paint on each side with a cut-off Q-tip, testing the dot size on paper first. Let it dry, add a black pupil with a fine-point marker, and optionally a second coat of UV resin over the eyes.
