Classic Recipe

  • Hook 2x long dry, 8-12
  • Thread Tan 6/0

Materials

  • Body Tan 2mm foam, folded and segmented (over shank)
  • Legs Barred rubber (1 pair, kicking)
  • Wing Deer hair (flat over body)
  • Indicator Orange foam (optional)

How to tie it

  1. Start tan thread on the 2x long dry hook and lay a base along the shank.
  2. Lay a strip of tan 2mm foam along the top of the shank and bind it down at the bend, then bind again at even intervals moving forward to create segmented body sections.
  3. Tie in a small bunch of deer hair flat over the top of the body as a wing, tips reaching the bend.
  4. Add a barred rubber leg on each side, kicking outward.
  5. Fold the front foam back over the eye as a small head/indicator (add an orange foam dot on top if using), and whip finish under the front foam.
  6. Add a drop of cement at the tie-off.
