Tyer Recipe

  • Hook curved pupa/scud hook, #12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Silver or black bead (1)
  • Body Black or dark thread
  • Rib 1 Red wire
  • Rib 2 Silver wire or tinsel
  • Breather gills White uni stretch (small tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Slide bead to the eye; start thread and wrap to a point above the barb.
  2. Tie in two ribbing materials (e.g. red wire and silver tinsel) at the rear.
  3. Wrap thread forward in smooth turns to form a thin tapered body.
  4. Wrap the two ribs forward as evenly spaced parallel ribs; tie off and trim both.
  5. Tie in a small white antron tuft at the front for breather gills and trim short.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead.
