How to tie it
Lay a Veebus white 6/0 thread base along the shank, leaving room for a head.
Rib: tie in the Gold tinsel/mylar with the silver side showing so gold shows when wrapped, binding it the length of the thread base with a couple of wraps, then move it underneath.
Body: catch in the Yellow floss with a couple of wraps and keep it underneath; rotate the vise to check nothing is riding up the sides. Wrap the floss body forward in flat turns, flattening it as you go and avoiding the hook point.
Wrap the tinsel forward in evenly spaced turns and tie it off.
Throat: a sparse stack of red bucktail. Invert the vise, tie it in about the length of the hook, trim, one soft wrap, pull back, a couple of tight wraps, check the position and bind down.
Start coloring the thread base black with a marker now, before the head builds, so no white streak shows later.
Wing: a few strands of white bucktail, longer than the fly. Soft wrap, pull back, tight wraps; remove strays and check it is even. A soft wrap at the back of the head gathers it. More black marker.
Add the yellow bucktail over the white to the same length; loose wrap at the back, then trim the butts at an angle and bind down with tight wraps. Check nothing has moved.
Topping: four or five strands of Peacock herl with the tips evened on the table, laid on top and bound down; herl always fluffs when tied in, so spend time binding that down. A soft wrap at the back, then come forward.
