Mount a standard nymph hook and start tan thread behind the eye; wind a thread base back to the bend, and optionally build a slight underbody taper.
Cut a thin strip of chamois leather, dampen it, and tie it in at the bend by one end.
Wind the chamois strip forward in touching, slightly overlapping turns to build a smooth, segmented leather body, stopping at the 65% point; tie off and trim the excess.
Dub a small, buggy thorax of hare's ear at the front third, picking it fatter than the body so it stands out.
Tie in a sparse brown partridge feather at the front of the thorax and take one turn, or fold a few fibers back along each side, for soft legs; sweep them back and down.
Build a small tan head, whip finish, and add a drop of cement.
Pick out the hare's ear thorax with a dubbing needle so the legs and guard hairs breathe.
