Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Wide-gap trout/predator hook (Ahrex TP610), 1
  • Thread White 140 denier (Veevus PB2)

Materials

  • Angelina fibre (straight cut) Silver Iris and Wisteria Hot Fix (body)
  • Mirror flash Silver flashabou (flash)
  • Angel Hair Red holographic tinsel (throat/gills)
  • Eyes Red/black material (1 pair, 7 mm)
  • Liquid Fusion or UV resin Clear uv resin (head coat)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread near the eye and lay a base back along the shank.
  2. Tie in a sparse clump of Silver Iris Angelina fibre on the bottom of the shank as a belly, tips extending about one-and-a-half shank-lengths past the bend.
  3. Tie in a matching clump of Angelina fibre on top for the back, keeping the fly slim, and add a few strands of mirror flash along each side.
  4. Add a small clump of Wisteria Angelina over the back for a color shift, and tie in a short tuft of red Angel Hair at the throat to suggest gills.
  5. Build a small thread head, whip finish, and clip the thread.
  6. Use a marker to shade the back and add bars to match local baitfish if desired.
  7. Glue a 7 mm red/black eye to each side and coat the head with Liquid Fusion or UV resin.
