Tail: fold two strands of Crystal flash over the thread and catch them in on top at the bend with two or three wraps. Snip the front; trim the tail a little longer than the hook gap.
Rib: catch in the Silver Mylar tinsel with the silver side facing the hook so silver shows when wrapped, binding it along the top.
Body: six or seven strands of Peacock herl, brittle tips snipped off, caught in at the bend. Take the thread forward, gather the herls in spring hackle pliers and spin five or six turns into a loose rope, then wrap it forward to the front.
Catch the herl off with two wraps, snip the excess, and add a few extra wraps to lock it.
Counter-wrap the rib forward, four turns on a size 10. Two wraps to catch it, fold the tag back over itself and take a couple more wraps before trimming.
Wing: a clump of black squirrel tail, stacked. Wax the thread first. Catch it in on top, reaching to the bend: the first couple of wraps medium, then tight. If it spins, take a loose wrap and slip one wrap right up under the wing to stop it slipping. Snip the butts without crowding the eye.
Cheeks: three or four Peacock sword fibers on each side, about half the wing length, caught in with a medium wrap and positioned before tightening. Snip the excess at the front.
Take the thread back behind the eye, ramp up a head, whip finish and add a drop of head cement.
