Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 4-10
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Cone Gold cone (one, sized to the hook gap)
  • Tail Orange permanent marker (marabou, one shank length)
  • Flash Pearl and orange flashabou (6-8 strands Krystal Flash, mixed into the tail)
  • Body Orange permanent marker (pearl-cored tinsel chenille)
  • Hackle Grizzly hackle (one grizzly saddle, palmered)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold cone to the eye, mount the hook and start thread behind the cone.
  2. Run thread to the bend and tie in an orange marabou tail one shank length long.
  3. Add a generous pinch of pearl and orange flash into the tail for a flashy attractor look.
  4. Tie in a grizzly hackle by the tip and a length of orange tinsel chenille at the bend.
  5. Wrap the chenille forward to the cone and tie off.
  6. Palmer the hackle forward in 6 open turns, bind at the cone, snip the excess, then whip finish behind the cone and cement.
