Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 4-10
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Cone Gold cone (one, sized to the hook gap)
  • Tail Olive ostrich herl (marabou, one shank length)
  • Flash Pearl and Olive flash (6-8 strands Krystal Flash, mixed into the tail)
  • Body Olive ostrich herl (pearl-cored tinsel chenille)
  • Hackle Olive grizzly hackle (one grizzly saddle, palmered)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold cone to the eye, mount the hook and start thread behind the cone.
  2. Run thread to the bend and tie in an olive marabou tail one shank length long.
  3. Add a generous pinch of pearl and olive flash into the tail for a flashy attractor look.
  4. Tie in a grizzly hackle by the tip and a length of olive tinsel chenille at the bend.
  5. Wrap the chenille forward to the cone and tie off.
  6. Palmer the hackle forward in 6 open turns, bind at the cone, snip the excess, then whip finish behind the cone and cement.
