Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Dry fly, 12-16
  • Thread Brown 8/0

Materials

  • Body Iridescent green herl (peacock herl)
  • Wing/hackle Natural mottled wing/hackle (coq de Leon (CDL) fibers)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and wrap back to the bend.
  2. Tie in two or three peacock herls and wrap a full herl body forward two-thirds of the shank.
  3. Tie in a bunch of coq de Leon fibers as a downwing over the body, tips reaching the bend.
  4. Splay a few additional CDL fibers forward as a sparse hackle collar.
  5. Whip finish behind the eye.
