Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Dry fly, 12-16
  • Thread Brown 8/0

Materials

  • Body Iridescent green material (peacock herl)
  • Wing/hackle Natural mottled hackle (coq de Leon (CDL) fibers)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and wrap back to the bend.
  2. Tie in two or three peacock herls and wrap a full herl body forward two-thirds of the shank.
  3. Tie in a bunch of coq de Leon fibers as a downwing over the body, tips reaching the bend.
  4. Splay a few additional CDL fibers forward as a sparse hackle collar.
  5. Whip finish behind the eye.
