How to tie it
Slide a gold bead onto an Ahrex FW540 and start red thread behind it. Red thread showing at the head is the hot spot on this one.
Tie in four or five pheasant tail fibres for the tail, followed by copper wire.
Shape the body with thread and tie in more pheasant tail, then wrap it forward right up behind the bead, tie it off and trim.
Counter wrap the copper wire forward over the pheasant tail and helicopter it out. Counter ribbing is what keeps a pheasant tail body from unravelling once fish start chewing.
Dub a short thorax of grey UV Ice Dub.
Make a dubbing loop, drop a CDC feather in, trim the tips out and spin it, then wrap a sparse collar. Spinning the CDC in a loop rather than wrapping the feather gives you fibres radiating in every direction from a very small amount of material.
