  • Hook Curved scud/pupa hook, 18-22
  • Thread Black 10/0 or 8/0

Materials

  • Body Black ostrich herl (thread)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (fine wire)
  • Thorax Black ostrich herl (dubbing or peacock)
  • Gills White uni stretch (sparse CDC tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the 70% mark, then wrap to the bend around the curve.
  2. Build a slim, smooth black thread body forward to the 65% mark.
  3. Counter-wrap the fine silver rib in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off for segmentation.
  4. Dub or wrap a small dark thorax.
  5. Tie in a short white CDC tuft at the front as gills, keeping it stubby.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye and snip.
