Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 20-24
  • Thread Black or gray 10/0

Materials

  • Body Black or gray material (thread)
  • Wing/puff White or light dun microfibetts (sparse CDC tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the tiny hook and start thread at the eye.
  2. Wrap a slim, smooth thread body back to the bend and forward to the 70% mark.
  3. Tie in a short, sparse CDC tuft standing upright as a wing.
  4. Take a couple of thread turns front and back of the wing to stand it up.
  5. Build a tiny thread head.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye and snip.
