CDC Micro Caddis

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 18-20
  • Thread Olive or tan 10/0 or 8/0

Materials

  • Body Olive, tan, or gray material (fine dubbing)
  • Wing Natural dun wing bud (sparse CDC fibers)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the small hook and start thread at the 70% mark.
  2. Dub a slim, short body forward to the 70% mark with barely any dubbing.
  3. Tie in a sparse CDC wing, tips just past the bend, tented low over the body.
  4. Bind the butts and trim them square to a tiny head.
  5. Take a couple of tidy thread wraps to set the wing angle.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye and snip.
