  • Hook Curved emerger hook, 14-18
  • Thread Olive or dun 8/0

Materials

  • Trailing shuck Amber vinyl rib medium (sparse Z-lon)
  • Body Olive/gray material (fine dubbing)
  • Rib Fine gold (wire)
  • Loop wing Natural dun wing bud (CDC fibers)
  • Thorax Gray flotation (dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the 70% mark.
  2. Bind a sparse amber shuck at the bend, half a shank long.
  3. Dub a slim tapered abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
  4. Rib forward with fine gold wire in 5 open turns and tie off.
  5. Tie in a bundle of CDC by the butts pointing forward, then fold the tips back over the thorax and bind them down to form a standing loop wing.
  6. Dub a small thorax to cover the tie-down and prop the loop.
  7. Whip finish behind the eye and snip.
