Slide an oversized slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook so it sits against the eye. The heavy bead gets the fly down fast and gives the jig its head-down swim.
Start thread behind the bead, run to the bend and tie in a small bunch of coq de Leon or pheasant tail fibers for the tail.
Tie in the wire rib, then a bunch of pheasant tail fibers, and wrap them forward to form a slim abdomen; counter-rib the wire in 4-5 open turns for durability.
Build a peacock herl or copper Ice Dub thorax just behind the bead.
Tie in a hot orange CDC feather by the tip and take one or two wraps as a mobile collar right behind the bead, OR simply build a hot-orange thread hot spot; sweep the CDC back.
Whip finish behind the bead and add a tiny drop of cement.
The CDC collar traps air bubbles and pulses like emerging legs, while the fluorescent hot spot is the strike trigger.
