Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 18-22
  • Thread Black 10/0 or 8/0

Materials

  • Body Peacock ice dub (1 herl)
  • Hackle Grizzly hackle (1 undersized feather)
  • Wing/puff Natural dun wing bud (sparse CDC tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the small hook and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in one peacock herl and a grizzly hackle by the stem at the bend.
  3. Wrap the peacock herl forward to the 80% mark as a fuzzy body and tie off.
  4. Palmer the grizzly hackle forward through the herl in 5-6 open turns and tie off at the eye.
  5. Tie in a tiny CDC puff on top as a wing to add flotation and visibility.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye and snip.
