  • Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 10-12
  • Thread Olive 8/0

Materials

  • Wing post Natural dun wing bud (stacked CDC fibers)
  • Tail Dun microfibetts (Coq de Leon fibers, split)
  • Body Olive ostrich herl (green drake dubbing)
  • Hackle Grizzly hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the 65% mark.
  2. Tie in an upright post of stacked CDC fibers and post the base with thread wraps.
  3. Run thread to the bend and set a split Coq de Leon tail, one shank long.
  4. Dub a tapered olive body forward to the post.
  5. Tie in a grizzly hackle at the post base and wind it 4-5 turns horizontally around the post, tying it off under the post.
  6. Dub a touch of thorax and whip finish behind the eye.
