Reference Recipe
- Hook Jig or standard nymph hook, 14-20
- Thread Olive or brown 8/0
Materials
- Bead Silver or copper slotted tungsten bead (slotted tungsten, sized to hook)
- Body Olive, brown, or hot orange material (thread coated with UV resin)
- Collar Natural dun wing bud (sparse CDC fibers)
How to tie it
- Slide a slotted tungsten bead to the eye and mount the hook.
- Start thread behind the bead and build a smooth, thin, tapered body of thread back to the bend and forward again.
- Optionally add a short hot-spot band of colored thread just behind the bead.
- Coat the whole thread body in a thin layer of UV resin and cure it for a slick, fast-sinking finish.
- Tie in a very sparse pinch of CDC fibers behind the bead and take two turns as a short breathing collar.
- Sweep the CDC back, whip finish behind the bead, and snip.
