  • Hook Standard nymph hook, 14-18

Materials

  • Tail Pheasant tail (4-6 fibers)
  • Body Pheasant tail (fibers wound)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Flashback/wingcase Pearl flashabou (Mylar tinsel)
  • Thorax Peacock ice dub (herl)
  • Legs Natural dun rubber legs (CDC fibers)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread mid-shank, then wrap to the bend.
  2. Tie in a short pheasant tail tail, half a shank long.
  3. Wrap the pheasant tail fibers forward as a slim abdomen to the 60% mark and secure.
  4. Counter-wrap the copper rib in 5 open turns and tie off.
  5. Tie in a strip of pearl Mylar and a couple of peacock herls, then wrap a plump thorax with the herl.
  6. Fold a pinch of CDC along each side as legs, then pull the pearl flashback over the top and bind at the eye.
  7. Whip finish and snip.
