CDC Emerger Trico

Nymph · Trout · Grayling · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Curved emerger hook, 20-24
  • Thread Black 10/0 or 8/0

Materials

  • Trailing shuck Cream/amber material (sparse Z-lon)
  • Body Black ostrich herl (thread or fine dubbing)
  • Wing White or light dun microfibetts (sparse CDC tuft)
  • Thorax Black ostrich herl (fine dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the tiny hook and start thread at the 70% mark.
  2. Bind a whisper of cream Z-lon at the bend as a short trailing shuck.
  3. Build a slim black abdomen with thread or a touch of dubbing forward to the 60% mark.
  4. Tie in a very sparse CDC tuft as an upright wing, keeping it short and light.
  5. Dub a tiny black thorax around the wing base with barely any dubbing.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye and snip.
